Why Phi Sigma Pi?
What makes Phi Sigma Pi so great is that it has something for everyone. Whether you are looking for a fraternity that has diversity or a way to help the university. Or if you are looking for a fraternity that having fun is what they are for or one that is built upon honor. Or if you want to find a group that helping is what they are about or one where what you study does not count you out. And best of all, it is co-ed. Phi Sigma Pi is a honor society, service organization, and social fraternity all in one.

What is initiation?
There are two selection processes of becoming a Brother in Phi Sigma Pi. The first is Rush and the second is Initiation. Initiation will last between 8 and 11 weeks and will consist of meetings, study hours, and other events planned by the initiates. This is the period when the initiate decides if Phi Sigma Pi is the right organization for them. Throughout the program, the initiates will learn to bond with their initiate class through events, activities, and the initiate retreat. Each initiate class is required to plan 4 events: Fundraising, Service, Social, and scholarship. This gives the initiates a feel for what brotherhood is really like. The initiate will also be required to do interviews with the Brothers and their fellow initiates and also pass weekly quizzes and the National test. This period is very time consuming for the initiates and they learn to use their time management skills effectively by having a good time and keeping up with their school work as well.

Co-ed, All Majors, and Diverse

PSP is an organization unlike many others in that both gals and guys join together from a variety of majors, religions, and beliefs to make amazing things happen. Where else could you go and find such a wide range of people in one group who want to have fun and help out others at the same time and also be co-ed?

Honor
To join the fraternity you must have a 3.0. But the honor does not end there. We work to help each other through creating a test bank to store old tests, study hours, and schedule events that promote scholarship like speakers and visits to cultural places.

Service
Do you feel a need to help out members of your community or the university? Have you thought about being a service to those who need it, but did not know how to get started? Phi Sigma Pi is the place you can go! Giving our time to the university, local schools and causes is part of what makes our organization special. From painting at local schools to raising money for Parker House, a local shelter for kids, we make it part of our focus to give aide where we can.

Phi Sigma Pi believes that by undertaking service projects, students can learn about the problems facing today's society and can better shape their views and leadership skills.

Social
PSP is an organization where fun is an intergral part of the puzzle. Gathering together creates friendships that last beyond the college years. You can meet not only people from our own university, but from other schools nearby and ones from other states in the nation. If you thought that honor fraternities didn't know how to have fun, then you definitely have not been to a Gamma Theta event. The pictures above are from our annual luau, just one of the many social events that the chapter has.

Leadership
The desire to be a leader is something that our fraternity can help foster. If you have wanted to be an intergral part of running an organization on campus in even a small way, Phi Sigma Pi is a place for you to go. Whether you serve as an officer, a committee head or an active chapter member, you can become a leader and learn skills to help you in years to come.

For the past three years the Gamma Theta Chapter has hosted the Southern Leadership Conference. Members of other chapters come to Louisiana to share ideas for service, scholarship, and other events and ways to grow as leaders and members of the community and university. Of course we do all that while throwing in a whole bunch of fun.

National
Nationally, our organization is amazing! We have 96 chapters spread out across our great country all united by the same ideals. Members of our fraternity become members of a nation-wide family. At national events, these members gather together as if they were attending a giant family reunion. Even though many are meeting each other for the first time, bonds are created that strengthen our national organization and make the distance in miles between our chapters seem almost minutes away.

The Gamma Theta Chapter has traveled to many of the other chapters from Florida to Connecticut to Ohio. We have been white water rafting in North Carolina, went to the start of the chapter at North Texas, crawfish boils, and many Conventions all over the country. We also host annually one of the largest interchapter events for the fraternity. Every year we host brothers from other chapters for Mardi Gras. We have had over 700 brothers visit us over the six years that we have hosted Mardi Gras.

There are other chapters nearby at USM, Mississippi State, Ole Miss, Louisiana Tech and Tulane. And others are scheduled to be started soon including one at Southeastern Louisiana.
